DRAG PACK WEIGHT CALCULATOR
Cells + supercapacitor strings → lightest setup that holds voltage through the launch
Starting numbers are EXAMPLE ASSUMPTIONS, not measured EVUL data. Replace them with what your ESC log shows for a real pass.
YOUR RUN AND PACK
YOUR SUPERCAPACITOR
Enter the weight of one cap, otherwise the totals leave the caps out and more strings will look free.
Starts with example values for a 220 F, 3.8 V cap. Enter the numbers from your own cap's datasheet. Each string of caps in series only delivers one cap's peak current, so strings in parallel add their peak currents.
EXTRA CELL TO COMPARE
Fill in all five fields and this cell joins the comparison.
EVERY COMBINATION, LIGHTEST FIRST

HOW IT WORKS OUT THE ANSWER
- Cell current limit = capacity in amp-hours × burst C. It has to cover the steady current after launch.
- Caps per string = pack full-charge voltage ÷ 90% of one cap's rating, rounded up.
- Bank farads = strings × cap farads ÷ caps per string.
- Bank current limit = strings × one cap's peak current. The launch amps above the cells' limit have to fit under it.
- Sag = (launch peak − cell limit) × peak duration ÷ bank farads.
- Weight counts bare cells and caps only, not wire, connectors, balancers or wrap.
- Simple model: it ignores the cells' and caps' internal resistance, so treat close calls as borderline and confirm with a logged pass. EST.
