What balancing does
Balancing means bringing every module back to the same state of charge so they work as a team again.
How we do it on the bench
- The pack is removed and safely disconnected.
- Each module's starting voltage is measured and logged.
- Each module is charged individually with a professional charge manager and a high-current supply.
- Final voltages are measured again. The modules have to land close together before the pack is rebuilt.
What balancing can and cannot fix
Balancing fixes packs whose modules have simply drifted or dropped too low, which is common in cars that sat. It cannot bring back a cell that is physically damaged or worn out. That is why every pack is diagnosed first, and why a failed cell may need replacing.
Safety first: Hybrid traction batteries carry dangerous high voltage. They should only be opened by trained technicians. Every pack is diagnosed first, and not every pack can be saved.
